2007 Supreme Court Election Forum

On Friday, March 30th, We the People/Wisconsin will air a live, statewide Supreme Court forum between Washington County Circuit Court Judge Annette Ziegler and Madison attorney Linda Clifford. The forum will broadcast live from 7 to 8 p.m. in the studios of Wisconsin Public Television in Madison. Citizen panelists from across the state will ask questions of the two general election candidates.

To be a member of the viewing audience, please call 1.800.492.7505 to register. Only those who are pre-registered will be allowed to attend.

The debate will air live on Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio. It will rebroadcast at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31st on WKBT’s My Network TV stations (Charter Ch. 10, La Crosse; Ch. 9, Eau Claire and Ch. 16, Winona), and on Sunday, April 1st at 10 a.m. on WISC-TV (CBS, Madison), as well as Milwaukee Public Television and Wisconsin Public Television. The debate will also air at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 and April 1 on WTMJ's Weather Plus channel (Ch. 104, Time Warner).

“This forum is the public’s best chance to engage the Supreme Court candidates in a discussion of the problems that may best be solved by the judicial branch. Citizens deserve an opportunity to hear the positions and ask questions of the candidates for this very important seat,” said Tom Bier, vice president/station manager of WISC-TV (CBS, Madison) and president of We the People/Wisconsin.

During the broadcast, viewers and listeners will be able to “judge” the candidates as they make their case to the audience and then respond to questions posed by a “jury” of citizen questioners gathered in the studios. The candidate who wins the April 3rd election will serve 10 years on Wisconsin’s highest court.
